Douglas St, the Village in the City!
And Boi! wha'a City!
Can't get enough of AutumnFest? Well, you can join the UpDown Circus team on Sept 1st and 8th in the South Parish Community Hall to have a bash at the auld Circus, ah go wan, sure why not, it's probably not as hard as it looks!
Using Accessible Circus pedagogy, these introductory workshops are open to all ages and all physical abilities. The focus will be on play, in a 'try it out' environment, and the core relationships of space, rhythm, and movement, rather than complex tricks, using adapted tools like juggle boards for social connection, developing coordination, concentration, and creativity.
Accessible Circus workshops use juggling balls, rings and scarves to introduce people to the benefits of Circus Arts in a fun, non-competitive environment that promotes physical literacy, and is adaptable for all abilities or physical limitations.
We take a pedagogical approach that makes juggling inclusive for everyone, regardless of physical or mental abilities. The pedagogy focuses on the core relationships of space, rhythm, and movement rather than complex tricks, using adapted tools like juggle boards for social connection, developing coordination, concentration, and creativity. It redefines juggling as a universal practice, allowing people of all abilities and ages to participate and connect through shared movement and sensory experiences, including using everyday objects.
